The last couple of months have been full of activity for us at Edgemont. The gym was busy as students learned the fundamentals of volleyball, particularly focusing on how to set and bump the ball. Blanket volleyball was a huge hit as students demonstrated teamwork, using a blanket, to thrust the volleyball over the net or to catch it from the other team. Moving together as a unit was not as easy as it might seem!
We ended the year, before heading out for Winter Break, with Just Dance Week. Getting our heart rates up while coordinating our body movements helped us to keep active in those cold days of December.
Since returning from Winter Break, we were fortunate enough to have Miss Nicole back from Sound Creations to test our agility and coordination with African Dance. Not only were we challenged with the physicality of dance, but also with our knowledge of what makes African Dance unique. Telling stories, teaching morals, and celebrations were central themes told in the dances we learned. Our experiences in this genre of dance were exceptional! Thanks to our parents who were able to make it to your child's final dance class to get a first hand look at our learning.
THANK YOU to our Parent Council for providing the funds, so that our students could participate in such an enriching experience.
