As we gathered this morning for our breakfast and got ready for our final activities, students were experiencing mixed emotions towards their departure this afternoon. They are, as most of them stated, "excited to go home but sad to leave and want to stay at the same time". In these short four days, students have learned much about themselves, their classmates, their peers from other classes and gained new friendships with the aforementioned as well as students from Sunnyside School (whom we were privileged to share our time here with). The four Pillars of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility that are the cornerstones of Camp Chief Hector, have resonated for our students. These pillars were touched on each day and guided students' learning experiences this week. As we say goodbye, we have not only looked at curricular concepts: but have further strengthened our: relationships, ability to communicate and work with others, organizational skills, and independence.
Soon we are headed home! Goodbye Camp Chief Hector...our memories will be with us forever!
